Chicken's at Porterfarms
We brought home 6 chicks in late Feb. 2014 after finally getting approval from the town zoning
committee. Wow what a learning experience that was! I researched and spoke with lawyers like it
was my full time job. The ChickenChick was an incredible source of valuable information, I highly
recommend looking at her blog and Face Book page if you think you might consider getting
chickens. So I cried like a baby when they approved our property, out of happiness and relief.
Four Easter Eggers- Piper, Olive, Rebba, Penny and two Golden Comets-Ginger and Cornflake came
home to our brooder box at 1 day old. Oh the joy and smiles that came from our basement that
month. My husband Allen and I built the coop together and the enclosed run came shortly after with
the help from my children Sydney and Parker. It takes a village to raise 6 chicks ya know.

I love these babies. Now they are big girls and laying eggs for us to eat and share with friends. There are brown, pink, blue and green eggs.
